What are digitally published products?
Where & How do you access these products?
You can access digitally published products from smart devices such as tablets, computers or smartphones. From there, there are designated apps that are made for a certain category of digitally published products such as apple podcasts which holds a wide variety of podcasts and podcasts only, also apps such as apple newsstand which contains just digital newspapers. Apps like apple podcasts allow the user to download the podcast so the user can listen without a wifi connection. This also works for online newspapers and E-magazines allowing you to read without wifi connection so when you're offline you can still read the E-magazine you downloaded. Many services offer a subscription which is the only way you can listen offline.
What Features Do They Have?
E-magazines such as TMZ allow readers to interact by using social media. Companies use social media to allow consumers to share their views on certain stories meaning the company gets recognition on social media. Companies usually do this by using hashtags such as (#TMZ). The image below shows a new story followed with ‘Share on Facebook’ and ‘Tweet This’ , allowing the reader to interact with the news story and express their views in addition for readers who don't have a social media account there is more than often a comment section at the bottom of the article page so the reader can again express their feelings towards the article... Some websites offer settings such as dark mode which allows a darker background so it's reasonable to read a news article before going asleep, however, this feature is usually only on smartphones. They also offer a change in text size. This is because if you are on a small device such as a smartphone adjusting the text will allow the reader to

How do you use them / interact with them?
On a tablet or a smartphone, you scroll and tap on the screen to navigate your way through the article. On a mac/pc you navigate your way by scrolling and clicking with your mouse or touchpad. Some offer videos for example shown below.
The tabloid TMZ offers a video section. From here you can read the article below or watch the news article on full screen or small screen. Links on articles forwarding the reader to previous articles they may have written on the same case may be in an article. To do this the reader just needs to click on the link. As said before companies may offer subscriptions allowing exclusive content and more, to subscribe there would be a page for subscription or a pop-up.
How are the published products created?
The process of the production process is, Authoring in a word, editing on screen or paper, composition, proofreading on PDF or paper, composition corrections, print and then linking to a technology partner. The media sectors involved are Print, Online, interactive media, press and photo imaging. To create an E-Magazine you will need to use platforms such as Adobe InDesign, premiere or audition and illustrator. These platforms allow that your online newspaper fits the style you want, successfully interacts with the consumer and that it has the correct screen ratio for certain devices, therefore, it's optimized to fit the consumer's screen so he or she can read comfortably. Then you can publish by creating a website on Weebly or any other website creator or upload it to a certified app that allows the content you want to be uploaded.
Why they were produced?
Each product has its own reason to be produced. This could be to educate, you could create an online magazine to educate people on science or history or to educate people of life skills and choices. Another reason may be to entertain, podcasts are a great example, listeners will be entertained off listening to a podcast. Political online newspapers such as The Times may be produced to persuade people to vote in an upcoming election. And finally, it may be produced to promote, E-Magazines and online newspapers are bombarded with ads which promote certain companies.

My 2 Chosen Digitally published products -
Hollywire is an E-Magazine and a website filled with Hollywood news and scandals. It has a variety and constant upload of exclusive interviews and article to always keep people entertained and up to date.
- Age Group - The age group would be for young adults and teenagers.
- Gender - The gender is not specific anyone who is interested in how celebrities live and latest scandals such as the trending scandal now ‘Micheal Jackson Paedophile?’ Will be drawn to Hollywire to keep up to date with society. Previously articles surrounded by celebrities would have more a female audience.

- Social Class - Middle class
Daily Mail is my second choice of digitally published product. It's a dramatic E-magazine which comments on the biggest news articles. As you can see the website for Daily Mail it's covered in ads allowing products to be advertised by there website.
- Age group - Adults and Young Adults

Design Aspect-
Web and tablet design is different to support the device used. On a web browser, the website tends to be more spread out whereas the mobile or tablet versions are more condensed down. Most offer apps such as TMZ. The apps are the same as the mobile web version but allow easy access from the home screen. Below is a screenshot showing how e-magazines condense their website into a mobile version on an app.
Desktop VersionThe Shade Room desktop version is less compact. It has to drop down boxes showing sub-categories for news headlines. For example, a drop down box is 'Latest Tea' the user/consumer would hover over this drop down box and the dropdown box will give a list of the latest news stories. This allows the user/consumer to easily get there way around the website. The desktop version also has a slide show of latest stories 'you don't want to miss out on'. This instantly allows the user to be alerted with headlining stories again being easily accessible
Here is an example of how websites use the web version showing it more spread out. They do this to fit the screen and make it appeal to the reader showing the consumer the wide variety of articles they have. The target audience may differ from the website version to the mobile version. The audience who read on their phone may be people who are on the go or just want to be alerted when breaking news comes out and briefly read the article. However, users that go on the website version may be people who want to read the full article in depth.
